quickie

I have not posted lately, for a long time I guess.

It has been a horrible time since spring for us financially. The kids and I have done the Zoo and Grandma's 90th Birthday party. That's it. Oh-we went to the "Y" to swim a couple of times, before we had to cancel our membership. That's okay, we did not use it as much as we wanted to. I did have these great plans for the summer break though, I would sign them up for a swim class each session and I would go to the fitness room and work out. We never had the money for the classes. Then we did not even have the money to put gas in the car. So we stayed home.

I keep having faith that the financial future (near and far) will change for the greater and stay that way. It has been so very hard and stressful. We have been broke but not like this in the last 10 years.

Some good things have come out of this though. They may not like it, but the kids are learning that having everything they want is not at all possible. And if they can't get it, they don't miss it. Also, we have learned to shop smart for what we need and no extras.

I hope the husband has been freed form this need to always buy little trinket's and tokens for the kids and I when he is working or out with us on family outings. I don't need them. The kids don't need them. But he loves to buy us things. I am no saint either. I do it too. Or should I say DID. It is not a healthy financial habit to get into.

What else have I been doing? Being angry and depressed. Knitting washcloths and socks. Sleeping in, well the kids aren't at school and they have been sleeping in too. Having the kids friends over and taking them to their friends houses. Sat with a girlfriend in the emergency room one Sunday evening.

July was tough emotionally. Had a friend and neighbor in a car accident. Her 3 kids were with her too. A new driver crossed traffic and pulled right out into her when she had the right of way. the eldest child is still in a back brace, the mom is in a wheel chair and waiting for a second surgery to try and repair her leg so she can walk again. The middle child suffered from a fractured hip and the baby only bruises. I am so very glad they are alive and healing. I already mentioned the other friend I sat with in the emergency room. Well I also went to 3 funerals in July. One a close family friend of my parents and the other two, a parent of two separate neighbors.

I have been escaping by knitting. I have to concentrate on the pattern so I don't think of any thing else. My mom is hinting that she wants me to knit her a pair of socks. I just learned how in February. I can take them with me to work on, no matter where I go. I even took them when I stood in line to get my Harry Potter book.

Well that's it, knitting, death, illness, accidents, poverty, forgot sewing, reading, watching tv, sleeping in. I did put out the slip and slide for the kids.

I can rant more later.
